Hootsuite is a scheduling tool with ads bolted on, and that's the honest answer.
Hootsuite was built to queue posts, pull analytics into one dashboard, and monitor conversations across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and a dozen other platforms. Post scheduling is its core strength. The ads feature exists, but it's not what the platform was designed for.
Hootsuite lets you schedule a post and then manually decide to boost it through Meta Ads Manager. It doesn't automatically detect your best-performing organic content and boost it based on rules you set. You still have to watch your posts go live, see which ones get traction, and then jump into Ads Manager yourself to create a campaign. That's the opposite of automation for boosting.
According to Hootsuite's own content on automation, the platform handles "scheduling, reporting, and monitoring tasks", not intelligent post promotion [1]. They excel at helping you queue 50 posts for the month and pull real-time analytics into one place. Valuable, but different problem.
If you're running a brand page and posting 3-5 times a week, you're still manually eyeballing which posts deserve paid amplification. You're doing the strategy and the decision-making yourself. That's where your hours go, and Hootsuite doesn't solve it.
If you're looking for a tool that actually automates the boosting decision, one that monitors posts for engagement, hits your thresholds, and fires up campaigns without you touching Ads Manager, you need something purpose-built for that. That's where Hootsuite falls short.
